David Bull of ukiyo-e (Japanese woodblock prints) fame has started up a new Kickstarter with Jed Henry. This latest series of artwork will have some pretty awesome prints just like the previous series. Some of the new woodblock prints include The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Metal Gear Solid, and even a battle between Cloud and Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII. Overwatch will also make an appearance in this new run as well. Sadly, the 4 pieces that the full Overwatch print is comprised of won’t be run in woodblock prints, but they’ll appear in cheaper giclée prints that will run $35 ($140 for the set).
I’ve lived in Tokyo for a few years now, and I was lucky enough to take my family visiting from America to David’s shop this past Spring. Not only is his art super awesome, but he’s a super awesome guy as well. I also couldn’t resist picking up “Yokai Dracul” (Castlevania) and “Fox Moon” (Star Fox). Much like the woodblock prints mentioned above they cost $150 a pop. However, if you like art and like videogames, I can’t help but recommend picking some of these up. On top of that recommendation, if you ever make your way to Tokyo you should check out David’s shop in Asakusa for a print party!
