I might be in that very small category that actually enjoyed Fear Effect for the original Playstation (release Feb. 2000). It was a an action-adventure game that used a lot of cel-shading. Which for the time was still an incredibly new technique. The background were made from looping full-motion video, rather than the pre-rendered 2D backgrounds that were all the rage in the gen. It mixed a lot of elements together. It might just be easy to say it was something of a “new age” Dragon’s Lair, but maybe slightly more enjoyable depending on your preferences. The trailer below seems to include one of the original main characters, Hana Tsu Vachel.
Anywho, at Gamescom today Forever Entertainment S.A., a Poland based company, announced Fear Effect Reinvented. I’m unsure if this new game is a remake, remaster, or new entry.
For those who haven’t played the original I highly suggest finding a way to play it if you enjoy this genre of games.
